The Swabhimaan residential school was opened by Shri C Gopala reddy IAS. secretary to govt of India, Ministry of social justice and empowerment new Delhi in the year 2002 with chief guest Mr D.Thanga Raju IAS, secretary to govt of Karnataka social welfare department and another chief guest was deputy commissioner Chitradurga.
The Swabhimaan education society, Hiriyur Chitradurga dist. Karnataka is being imparting education to poor students particularly SC, ST, & OBC students in rural areas since from 2001-02 for welfare of scheduled caste under the scheme of grant-in-aid to voluntary organisations working for SC’s.
Now the society is being running residential primary school and residential secondary school sanctioned by the govt. of India Ministry of social justice and empowerment since 2001- 02.
